Dr. Amina Malik is the Chief of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital. This subspecialty of ophthalmology focuses on both cosmetic and functional problems of the eyelids, eyebrows, lacrimal system and orbit. She performs a variety of surgeries to correct drooping upper eyelids, bags under the eyes, excessive tearing and eye socket problems. In addition, she provides care for patients interested in cosmetic facial rejuvenation, including Botox and facial fillers.
Dr. Malik is a graduate of the University of Akron, where she received her Bachelor of Science, Summa Cum Laude, in two years. She received her medical degree and ophthalmology training from the University of Cincinnati, where she served as chief resident and received the University Hospital Medical Award of Excellence. She then completed a two-year fellowship at the prestigious Cincinnati Eye Institute in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Malik is board certified in ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. Dr. Malik has participated in multiple international medical mission trips, providing eye surgery for patients in Honduras and El Salvador. She has published numerous articles and book chapters and has given several invited lectures’. Dr. Malik has a passion and commitment towards serving her patients, and enjoys providing personalized care. In her free time, she enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her family.
